Lake Wind Advisory to start off the week that will see highs in the 80s at Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for Lake Tahoe and the towns of Tahoe City, Incline Village, Stateline, Markleeville, South Lake Tahoe, Glenbrook, and Truckee on Monday, June 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Expect winds from the southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph and waves up to 3 feet on Lake Tahoe.

After a brief cooling on Monday with increased breezes, plenty of clouds, and possible morning rain showers, confidence remains high for a significant warmup later this week as highs approach 100 degrees in the hottest western NV valleys. Afternoon thunderstorms are also possible each day from Wednesday through next weekend.

NWS weekly forecast for South Lake Tahoe:

Monday - Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Monday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low of around 43. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph.

Tuesday Night - Clear, with a low of around 51. Calm wind.

Wednesday - A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 am. Sunny, with a high near 85. Calm wind, becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night - A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 pm. Partly cloudy, with a low of around 54.

Thursday - Sunny, with a high near 84.

Thursday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 52.

Friday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 83.
