Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe reopens doors to public at both locations

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT) is officially reopening its doors on June 17 at both locations - Truckee and South Lake Tahoe. Public hours have been limited due to the pandemic but things will be back in full swing.

“The community really stepped up and helped us keep going during the pandemic,” said Erin Ellis, Community Engagement Director at HSTT. “We were able to continue our rescue and adoption programs, community spay/neuter, vet assistance, and pet pantry efforts. But we are thrilled to get back to full capacity and are actively looking for more foster homes and more volunteers.”

Training is required for volunteers and that process is still being done virtually. Anyone that is interested in helping out fostering an animal in their home or volunteering and would like to learn more can email Ellis at erin@hstt.org.

The South Lake Tahoe office has its food pantry open and will be offering a free microchip and vaccine clinic this Friday, June 10 for those who qualify and have an appointment. Call 530.542.2857 for an application. They also hope to have kittens available for adoption soon.

The hours at the South Lake Tahoe office are Tuesday-Thursday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p..m., Friday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. They are closed Sundays and Monday. The Truckee office is open Thursday-Monday 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
