Lakeview Commons at South Lake Tahoe dedication

The Dedication Ceremony of Lakeview Commons at El Dorado Beach was held today with a large turnout of contributing agencies, visitors and locals alike.

The event kicked off with speeches by Patrick Wright, Executive Director of the California Tahoe Conservancy, followed by John Laird the Secretary of California Natural Resources Agency. Senator Ted Gaines joined the celebration and congratulated the massive efforts by all involved. Former City of South Lake Tahoe Mayor Kathay Lovell thanked the numerous individuals who contributed their time and efforts to make a dream a reality. El Dorado County Supervisor Norma Santiago and City of South Lake Tahoe Mayor Claire Fortier echoed their praises for the project.

Lakeview Commons at El Dorado Beach was dedicated to the public for their use, recreation and enjoyment of the surroundings and the incomparable view of Lake Tahoe. The Lakeview Commons at El Dorado Beach project was a team effort among the California Tahoe Conservancy, The City of South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County.

This project was made possible by the 2006 California Parks and Water Bond Act that funded the majority of the costs of this project and by the numerous people who supported Lakeview Commons and worked tirelessly to ensure the completion of this project.

The ceremony also kicked off the summer concert series “Live at Lakeview” which will host free concerts every Thursday from 4:30-8:30 pm at Lakeview Commons at El Dorado Beach all summer long. For more information on the summer concert series visit www.lakeviewcommonslive.com
