City Council meeting Tuesday to look at cannabis tax, final design of recreation center, housing element

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe City Council meets on Tuesday, June 20 at 9 a.m. The meeting will be held both in-person and virtually.
Agenda items:
The 2022 Cannabis Revenue Grant Awards will be announced. City Council approved $400,000 to be dispersed through a grant program. This amount equals half of the cannabis revenue received by the City last year. More Here.
They will hear, and vote on, a housing element update as required by law. This includes policies and programs designed to address constraints and opportunities to improve housing affordability, reduce barriers to housing availability, and increase access to housing opportunities for residents in the City. Ballot measure to convert existing Community Benefit Fee to Comparable Cannabis Business and Professions Tax. The City Council is asked to consider placing the proposed measure on the ballot for the election on November 8, 2022. The proposed measure would enact a new local business and professions tax on commercial cannabis activity, that would replace the community benefit fee currently being collected under development agreements with the cannabis businesses. The proposed measure would maintain the current rates in the development agreements of 6 percent of gross receipts for cannabis businesses and $20 per square foot of canopy for commercial cultivation. Also on the new Recreation and Aquatics Center, the Council will vote to pass a Resolution appropriating $3,788,851.53 in Measure P funds for its construction. More Here.
There will also be a Transit Visioning Workshop facilitated by representatives of Via Mobility, LLC, a workshop to understand the City Council's vision and goals for transit and mobility services in South Lake Tahoe and connectivity to the region. More Here.
The Council will vote on a draft Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan FY22-23 for budget appropriation requests and adoption of Capital Improvement Project Scoring and Ranking Criteria. More Here.
