Journey of Hope team cycling across country and makes stop in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Each year, more than 100 men embark on a cross-country cycling trip to test their limits, spread awareness, and celebrate the abilities of all people. With three routes kicking off on the West Coast, teams spend the summer crossing the country over a combined 12,000 miles with an arrival at the Capitol Lawn in Washington DC to mark the end of a life-changing event. Along the way, the team spreads the message of disability awareness through local media and makes stops at partner organizations where they deliver joy to their friends from the disability community.

On June 15, approximately 25 young men arrived in South Lake Tahoe while on on one of the three routes, the North Route. The group cycled to South Lake Tahoe from San Francisco.

The men are from colleges across the nation and had traveled to San Francisco to start the trip. Their route will take them 3,700 miles.

On the 16th, the South Lake Tahoe Moose Lodge hosted the group with a lasagna dinner, with salad, garlic bread, and dessert.  This was their first home-cooked meal they’d had since they embarked on their long journey. The young men spent Thursday afternoon at Angora Lakes and really enjoyed their visit to Lake Tahoe and Tahoe’s “Friendly Little Lodge.”

The Moose Lodge said they commend the cyclists on their efforts to spread awareness of disabilities and plans to host them for dinner again next summer.
