Incline Village to host 4th of July weekend full of activities including Local Heroes Parade

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - The fireworks may be canceled but the 4th of July holiday spirit on the North Shore has not been. Incline Village and Crystal Bay Association (IVCBA) has brought the community together for the first-ever “Local Heroes” Fourth of July Parade. Businesses will be adding in the jam-packed holiday weekend full of festivities for all ages.

This parade will be highlighting and recognizing all local heroes, acknowledging traditional American heroes such as firefighters, veterans, and peace officers; but will also represent local health care workers, educators, and other essential workers.

Alongside IVCBA, the Rotary Club of Tahoe-Incline is helping with the planning of this inaugural event. They are also a large sponsor for this parade with several other local organizations including the North Lake Tahoe Fire Prevention District, the Incline Village Veterans Club, Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID), and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department.

To start off the celebration, the North Lake Tahoe Fire Prevention District will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast for the community beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the fire station. People can fill up on freshly made pancakes, sausage, fruit, and some coffee before heading over to the parade route.

“With 2020 behind us, we look forward to re-engaging with our community with local events. The Local Heroes Parade and our Community Pancake Breakfast events are a great jump-start,” Ryan Sommers, NLTFPD Fire Chief said.

After breakfast, individuals can make their way over to the parade route that will begin on Incline Way. The parade will promptly begin at 10:15 a.m., and parade spectators can expect to see the Kids Bike Parade hosted by IVGID, as the lead-off group for the Local Heroes Parade. The parade will travel to its destination on Country Club Drive at Sierra Nevada University for the next event – The Meet and Greet with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department. While they will be in attendance for this landmark event ensuring the safety of all parade participants and bystanders they will also be showcasing some of their special programs.

“We will be showcasing some of our capabilities when responding to critical incidents in our region,” said Corey Solferino, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office upcoming Chief Captain. “We will have representatives from our mounted unit, explosive ordinance disposal, SWAT, K9, and ‘Search and Rescue.’”
