Crews searching for man missing in Lake Tahoe

6.26.21 UPDATE: Last night HASTY rescue divers found a man’s body submerged in Lake Tahoe off Chimney Beach. The man fits the description of Xavier Olivas, who crews searched for in excess of five hours. The official identification, cause, and manner of death will be confirmed by the Medical Examiner.

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - Crews are searching for a 69-year-old California man who jumped into Lake Tahoe near Chimney Beach Friday afternoon.

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, HASTY, WCSAR, Marine 9, WCSO Deputy Sheriffs, Carson City Sheriff deputies, North Lake Tahoe Fire, and members of the Coast Guard are combing Chimney Beach and Lake Tahoe waters for the missing man.

Shortly before 1:00 p.m. on June 25, Xavier Olivas reportedly jumped off a boat in the water with intentions to swim to shore. He hasn’t been seen since. Olivas, from Yucca Valley in California, was last seen wearing red shorts and a silver chain. He stands 5 ‘ 9” and weighs 150 pounds.
