Another busy 4th of July holiday is in the books for South Lake Tahoe. Both the South Lake Tahoe police and fire departments were kept busy with numerous calls throughout the weekend, resulting in one drowning, issues with alcohol and several disturbance calls.
For the 24-hour period on July 4, the police and fire responded to a total of 110 calls. Police calls were down this year. A new category has been added to SLTPD calls: Homeless/Transient. In previous years these calls could have been for being drunk in public, trespassing or other issues, but now if the officer knows the person is either homeless or a transient, that is the new entry.
