Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care hosts Wild Wonders learning series

Event Date:
July 6, 2024 - 2:00pm

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care (LTWC) has worked on some changes to its Wildlife Wednesday programs and has recreated it as Wild Wonders Learning Series on Sundays and Wednesdays. The improvements include one of the weekly programs being family-friendly, and the other being family-friendly with specialized speakers discussing local conservation efforts and more.

The first of the series will be held on Sunday, July 7 at 2 p.m. at the wildlife center located at 1551 AL Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe. Join them for a one-hour presentation and Q&A with LTWC’s Wildlife Education and Ambassador Curator Kit Ellsworth to learn about porcupines and meet Porky, their porcupine ambassador.

This all-ages event is free, but donations are appreciated (Suggested amounts are $10 for an individual or $25 for a family).

Seating is limited, so LTWC encourages the public to bring camp chairs or be prepared to stand during the presentation. Parking at the facility is limited; please consider carpooling or biking. For the comfort of the wildlife, no dogs, please. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held indoors.

The next in the series will be on July 17 from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. with Birds and Banding. Join Sarah Hockensmith of the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science as she brings together birding beginners and enthusiasts alike. This presentation will acquaint you with common and unique birds of Lake Tahoe.
