Electra Fire is 4,478 acres and firefighters have it 70% contained

7/8 UPDATE: Fire activity remained minimal today with the majority of the heat and smoke residing from yesterday’s burning operation. Firefighters are working to create and reinforce containment lines. Established control lines continue to hold and mop up and patrol will continue while suppression repair strategy is implemented.
The fire has burned 4,478 acres and is 70 percent contained. Many of the evacuated residents have been allowed back into their homes and some road closures remain.
8:00 p.m. UPDATE 7/6: Crews have been able to get a 40 percent containment line around the Electra Fire which has now burned 4,112 acres in Amador County. The Lake Tahoe Basin saw some residual smoke this afternoon.

1,334 firefighting personnel are assigned to the fire - 7 helicopters,
200 engines, 41 dozers, 26 water tenders and 35 Crews
AMADOR COUNTY, Calif. - The Electra Fire continues to be actively burning, with short intense upslope runs in Amador County in the Electra Road/Hwy 49 area southeast of Jackson. As of 7 a.m. Wednesday, the fire has burned 3,900 acres and is 10 percent contained.
Smoke from the fire will head into the Lake Tahoe Bssin again today.
1,334 personnel are working on the fire and there has been one first responder injury. No homes have been lost. The threat to critical infrastructure is being monitored and assessed, and protection plans are being put into place.
Evacuations: Amador County: East from Highway 88 in Jackson to Irish Town Rd. along Highway 88, East to Highway 26 to the Calaveras County Line and include everything south of Highway 26 to the Mokelumne River. In Calaveras County: Zones 327, 328, 329, 330, 341, 342, 343, 352, 353, 354.
Road closures - Amador County: Tibeaud Road southbound at Highway 88, Mount Zion Road southbound at Highway 88, Eastbound Clinton Road and Butte Mountain Road from the intersection of Clinton Road and Butte Mountain Road, Clinton Road at West Clinton Road, Electra Road at Highway 49, Santa Lane and Highway 49. Calaveras County: Highway 26, from Buckeye Lane to Lower Dorey.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
