Tahoe Prosperity Center facilitating South Shore Housing Needs Survey

The Tahoe Prosperity Center (TPC) mission is uniting Tahoe’s communities to strengthen regional prosperity. TPC provides regional solutions to regional needs on behalf of the communities that make up the Lake Tahoe region. One of those critical issues is a lack of housing for local workers. This negatively impacts businesses trying to hire workers and local residents who want to live, work and play in Lake Tahoe. Many workers in our Tourism driven economy find themselves unable to afford a home or apartment. The South Lake Tahoe Endowment, of the El Dorado Community Foundation are sponsoring a community survey to assess these housing needs.

All employers, employees and residents within the South Tahoe area (CA and NV) are encouraged to participate in a survey beginning July 15th. The study is designed to assess the housing needs of residents and employees in the area, with the survey providing valuable insight into the extent to which local employers, residents and employees are impacted (or not) by the availability of housing. Regional jurisdictions and organizations, along with the Tahoe Prosperity Center are sponsoring this study to better understand and plan for our resident and employee housing needs now and in the future to support our community and economy.

Please keep an eye on your email, mail or PO boxes, local publications and other notifications beginning July 15th for an online link to or a printed copy of the confidential survey. A Spanish only version will also be available online July 15. The survey will be available through August 15th.

Survey results will be presented in aggregate and available near the completion of this study at the end of October. Please see https://tahoeprosperity.org/housing-study/ for more information on this research and schedule.
