New retail businesses part of updated plan for South Y Center in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Y Center in South Lake Tahoe has been without one of its anchor stores, KMart, since its closing in August 2021. The owner of the center, Seven Springs, Ltd, turned in plans to the City of South Lake Tahoe for design review on July 7, 2023.

They are planning on dividing the 50,000 square feet of space into four smaller tenant spaces, each with its own entrance. At this time, three of the businesses have been identified: Sierra Trading Company, Five Below, and Ulta Beauty. The fourth retailer hasn't been announced though at one time it was going to be a home furnishing store.

The outside decor will be Tahoe-like with stone, wood, and gabled entries.

The design review stage is the first. The next step is the City's general plan review. It will then be presented to the South Lake Tahoe Planning Commission for recommendations as well as to the City Council for final review.

At this time the projected opening date has not been released.
