Water remains off at Tahoe Keys Marina

Water at the Tahoe Keys Marina, including that at the Fresh Ketch restaurant and all tenants, remains off after a dispute between the Tahoe Keys Marina and the Tahoe Keys Property Owner's Association (TKPOA).

Lawyers for both parties were in court in South Lake Tahoe both Wednesday and Thursday, and may be back in court again on Tuesday, July 18.

On July 13, Judge Suzanne Kingsbury ruled against the marina's request for an emergency court order to get the marina's water restored. She denied that request based on the fact that the marina was suspended by California Secretary of State.

"Their paperwork was not caught up, and that is a technicality," said the marina's lawyer Justin Clouser.

Clouser explained the marina changed their official name from Tahoe Keys Marina and Yacht Club, LLC to Tahoe Keys Marina Management, Inc. after their accountant recommended they do so. He said the State's paperwork was not updated when Kingsbury ruled, something he said is now fixed. Clouser refiled their emergency request Monday morning and he hopes there will be a hearing as early as July 17.

Their business license at the City of South Lake Tahoe is current and under the name Tahoe Keys Marina and Yacht Club, LLC.

The Tahoe Keys Marina is disputing the claim by TKPOA that the marina owes money on a water bill, resulting in the water being turned off. TKPOA owns the water company that supplies both the marina and the homes in the area.

In the meantime, people living in the apartments at the marina and all businesses operating there have no water. A notice was placed at the property on July 12, saying the structure was unfit for human occupancy due to no water.

All businesses at the marina that don't reply on water remain open.

Calls into the TKPOA and their lawyer were not returned.
