Go Fund Me account set up for Markleeville family who lost everything in Tamarack Fire

During the afternoon of July 16, with the Tamarack Fire growing quickly and bearing down on their neighborhood, Chris and Marshauna Mikelionis and their two young children packed up in the car and fled.

The following morning they saw a video of the fire on television and found out the hard way that they lost their home, its contents, and a vehicle to the Tamarack fire.

Chris is a Tahoe area musician who supports his family playing music. He has lost the majority of his instruments.

A Go Fund Me fundraising account has been set up to help the family with a goal of $50,000. So far, just over $30,000 has been raised.

"Marshauna and Chris were renting the home they were in and did not have renter’s insurance. They need all the help they can get as they begin to rebuild from scratch. Chris and Marshauna are a humble family and do not have the means to buy new things. All of the money raised will go to helping them find a new place to live, assisting Chris in rebuilding his career, and providing the entire family with essentials as they heal from this devastating event," said the Go Fund Me organizer Stephanie Vidoli.
