Survey for parents of students in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District on reopening plans

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) is planning and preparing for what the 2020-21 school year will look like, whether it is held virtually, in person, or is a hybrid of different options.

The July 21 LTUSD School Board meeting will continue the conversation of reopening at their last meeting and address options and concerns with a final decision by then end of the month.

LTUSD Superintendent Dr. Todd Cutler has sent out a survey to parents with one or more students in the district to complete a School Reopening Survey and turned it in no later than noon on Friday, July 24. Input will assist with the drafting of the final reopening proposal being brought to the Board of Education on July 30.

LTUSD has a Reopening Task Force comprised of staff, parents, community members, and agency partners to determine the safest and most effective way to reopen district schools and meet the needs of families and school community. The task force has met over the past few months and developed a system of school reopening models.

The school district continues to develop criteria and conditions for transitioning between the school models. Depending on circumstances surrounding COVID-19, different models may be employed throughout the school year.

Their July 21 meeting begins at 5:00 p.m. with a closed session, followed by a regular session. The agenda can be found HERE. The agenda includes discussion on reopening plans (no vote), an increase of 25-cents on school lunches, and a Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan required by the State in response to COVID-19.
