Those who have faced homelessness or housing insecurity sought by TYFS to represent community

If you have ever encountered housing insecurity or homelessness in South Lake Tahoe, your valuable insights are sought by Tahoe Youth and Family Services (TYFS). You're needed to represent our community on the El Dorado Opportunity Knocks Continuum of Care Lived Experience Advisory Board (LEAB). The primary purpose of the LEAB is to ensure the active participation of individuals with direct experience of homelessness in decision-making processes related to homeless and housing services within El Dorado County.

The LEAB is committed to amplifying the voices of those with lived expertise, fostering leadership skills, and establishing robust communication channels between its members and the homeless and housing services system.

LEAB strives to advocate for the perspectives of individuals with lived expertise and to positively impact the unhoused community through education, advocacy, and collaborative decision-making within El Dorado County. Governed by individuals with current or past lived experiences of homelessness, the LEAB will be dedicated to sharing their insights and knowledge, providing recommendations for system improvements, and actively participating in the decision-making processes of the EDOK CoC. This presents an opportunity for you to offer feedback on funding priorities and policies for homeless housing and services, utilize your leadership and advocacy skills to drive positive change, and offer recommendations to the EDOK CoC to enhance access to housing. Compensation for time will be provided to each LEAB participant, and monthly meetings will be held at Tahoe Youth and Family Services.
