Gatsby Festival, Tea and Fashion Show bring the 1920s back to Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Gatsby Festival returns to South Lake Tahoe at the Tallac Historic Site on August 12 and 13, and with it marks the return the a big favorite, the Gatsby Tea and Vintage Fashion Show.
It's been four years since the Gatsby Festival was last held at the Baldwin, Pope, and Heller Estates, and both days are full of events for the public to enjoy.
The festival is a celebration of 1920s culture, music, and clothing. This year, the Great Basin Institute is collaborating with Valhalla Tahoe and the Forest Service to host the 36th Great Gatsby Festival at the Baldwin, Pope & Heller Estates.
The tea and fashion show will be held on the Valhalla Grand Lawn on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at 2 p.m. Ticket holders love dressing up in 1920s attire and taking seats at fully decked tables under beige shade umbrellas along the lawn’s center path while The Jazz Messengers play on Valhalla’s outdoor stage. During tea service, guests are treated to a vintage fashion show featuring clothes from the period. At the end of the fashion show, the band takes the stage again and everyone is encouraged to toss their tea and have their cups refilled with champagne, which was an act of defiance during prohibition.
Those buying a whole table (8 at a round table and 10 at a rectangle) will get a $50 discount which is automatically applied at check out.
