Bay Area couple dies in Meeks Bay boat accident

A couple from San Ramon, California died on Sunday when a boat collided with a pier in Lake Tahoe near Meeks Bay resort.

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Department reported that the man and wife were on a speeding boat when it hit the pier at 1:40 a.m. The hull of the 19 foot 1997 Glastron was split in half from the force of the impact.

The couple has been identified as 44-year-old Tatiana Nikolskaya and her husband, 45-year-old Vadim Raizanov.

EDCS deputies say the accident is under investigation to determine whether alcohol was involved. Autopsies are scheduled for early this week.
