Kudos: SLT El County Dorado Probation Department hosts Bread & Broth meal

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Every July, the El Dorado County Probation Department celebrates the nationwide Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week. As an extension of activities involved in the celebration, the members of the El Dorado County Probation Department’s South Lake Tahoe office elected to honor and support the South Lake Tahoe community by sponsoring a Bread & Broth (B&B) Monday Meal. through the B&B’s Adopt A Day (AAD) of Nourishment program.

On July 17th, SLT El Dorado County Probation Department members hosted their first B&B Monday Meal through the B&B’s Adopt A Day (AAD) of Nourishment program.

Representing their department were Vanessa Wood, Supervisor Department Officer; Destiny Guerra, Probation Assistant; Desiree Wright, Legal Services Supervisor, and Deputy Probation Officers Mark Dulyanai and Alejandro Garibay. In addition to coordinating the sponsor meal for the department, Vanessa shared that the team members had an “outstanding” experience at their Monday Meal.

“It was a feel-good experience with lots of happy faces,” exclaimed Vanessa.

In addition to serving the eighty-nine dinner guests a hot, full-course meal, the Probation Department AAD crew members helped put together the free food distributed at the meal event.

“I was really impressed with the amount of groceries that the dinner clients can take home,” observed Vanessa.

Thanks to donations from the El Dorado Food Bank, local restaurants and grocery stores, and donations made to Bread & Broth, dinner guests can take home 2-3 bags filled with fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, dairy products, canned goods, and other miscellaneous food items such as salads, sandwiches, and canned goods.

Brian Richart, the El Dorado Probation Department’s Chief Probation Officer, was really excited about the department’s AAD sponsorship. Brian says, “The ethos of the department is giving back to the community.” In addition to sponsoring a B&B Monday Meal, the department encourages department members to participate in blood drives and other community charity events. Brian also wanted to highlight the supportive human services that the department provides to their wards to help prevent the “next victim.” These services include help with housing, employment, food, education, and mental health services.

Kudos to the SLT El County Dorado Probation Department for their outstanding service to all the members of our community.
