Juvenile arrested after car stolen in South Lake Tahoe, crashes into police car

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A juvenile was arrested on Saturday after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a home on Tanglewood Drive. South Lake Tahoe Police Lt. Scott Crivelli said the car was stolen at 3 a.m., and later in the day it was spotted near Martin Avenue and Black Bart Avenue. The officer from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) who saw the stolen car attempted to make a traffic stop at Black Bart and Genoa avenues. The car sped away.

A chase ensued that took the stolen car and SLTPD to Rocky Point Road. As the driver of the stolen vehicle rounded the blind corner on Rocky Point, an SLTPD officer was driving from the opposite direction and they collided.

Both drivers were checked for injuries. The suspect was transported to Barton Hospital where he was cleared and then arrested. The officer was taken to the hospital by another officer and they were cleared with no injuries.

Since the suspect is a minor, their name and age will not be released.
