South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue holds annual awards ceremony

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR) held its annual awards ceremony Tuesday night on the lawn at Regan Beach. The following members of the team were honored by Chief Clive Savacool and Battalion Chief Jay Manning:
Fire Chief Meritorious Award was given to Captain Kim George for all of her work in training and organizing the community vaccination clinics
Certificates of Commendation - Given to Mike Taormina for helping to recover a drowning victim in Lake Tahoe; and Jody Benavidez, Mike Taormina, Brad Callejo, Haven Wilvers, John Anderson and South Lake Tahoe Police Officer Mike Gamberg for their work in the apartment fire at Stateline on February 22 and saving lives of residents hanging out windows.

Firefighter of the Year: Holt Cawelti

Captain Al Martinez – 15 years
Engineer Pat Hambel - 15 years
Chris Wildman – 15 years
Captain Jon Anderson will be retiring in 2021 after 20 years
