SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue and Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District Zephyr Crew will be hosting a community cleanup workday in the Al Tahoe neighborhood on Sunday, August 14, 2022.
Neighborhood leaders are having a "Meet and Greet" at 768 Los Angeles Avenue to start the day so that neighbors can meet the Al Tahoe Firewise team leaders and volunteers, as well as the fire crews. Attendees will also be able to learn more about home hardening and defensible space fire mitigation strategies to protect lives and property. Evacuation “Go Bags” will be handed out and refreshments will also be served, courtesy of the Tahoe Resource Conservation District.
As part of the ongoing efforts and requirements for the Al Tahoe Community to remain a nationally recognized Firewise USA ® neighborhood, the fire crews will be in the neighborhood from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. to assist homeowners. The firefighters can assist with tree limb cutting, removal of shrubs and small trees, and chipping of slash.
