Kudos: Rotary Club of South Lake Tahoe partners with Bread & Broth

The Rotary Club of South Lake Tahoe’s motto is “Service Above Self” and it is one of the local organizations dedicated to doing active community service. On August 8, Bread & Broth was very fortunate to have the club members sponsor a "Monday Meal Adopt A Day of Nourishment" as part of their community outreach.

Rotarians Kathi Jensen, Julie Lucksinger, and Steve and Cynthea Preston arrived early and were eager to get started helping the Bread & Broth volunteers with the meal’s setup, serving, and cleanup.

Taking a break from the serving line, Cynthea wrote, “It was a very gratifying experience. The food was plentiful and nutritious. The dinner guests were appreciative and enjoyed the socialization with the other diners.”

By funding and volunteering at their Bread & Broth Adopt A Day sponsorship meal, the Rotary Club was fulfilling its goal of positively affecting as many children, families, and community members as possible. Not only did they help provide a full-course meal to over 80 men, women, and children, but their efforts also included packing the free food ‘giveaway’ bags that were handed out to those attending the dinner. In addition to dairy products, the bags included meat, fruits, bread, and pastries.

Bread & Broth is very grateful for the support that we receive from the Rotary Club of South Lake Tahoe. During the pandemic, they granted funds to help support B&B’s twice-weekly food giveaways and with the return of the Monday Meals, they are once again supporting B&B’s goal of easing hunger by hosting a B&B dinner.
