Local Judge Richard Glasson awarded Lifetime Achievement Award

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - Tahoe Township Justice of the Peace Richard Glasson was recently awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Nevada Judge's of Limited Jurisdiction (NJLJ), the first such honor to a judge from the group since 2016.

The ceremony was held on Zoom with a group of judges, politicians and court administrators, all telling funny tales of the longest serving Douglas County judge. He has long been appreciated for his sense of humor and appreciation for family and the law.

Judge Richard Glasson has served as Justice of the Peace since his election in 2000. Judge Glasson received his bachelor of arts from University of California, Davis, in 1975, and his juris doctorate from McGeorge School of Law in 1978. Prior to being on the bench, he was in private practice for 20 years.

He was previously awarded the NJLJ Judge of the Year honors.

Former Lt. Governor Brian Krolicki was one of those honoring Glasson, telling stories of his neighbor on Kingsbury Grade during the Zoom ceremony.

"You have earned it. Dick, thank you for your incredible public service and we are all very proud of your honor," said Krolicki. "Well done!"

He and his wife Susan live in Stateline where they raised their children. The Judge can often be found cycling or snowshoeing to work.
