Leads coming in on missing person that may help South Lake Tahoe Police

Several internet leads have come into the South Lake Tahoe Police Department that may help them identify the man who came up missing on August 12 after renting a stand up paddle board.

The man rented a paddle board at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. A boater found the board floating in water about 20 feet deep about 1/2 mile off shore near the Timber Cove Marina. A later search of the area found a paddle, but no other signs as to where the person may gone, if he drowned, or who he is.

The missing paddle boarder, whose rental form only contained the name "Morym" had an accent according to the rental business. No other forms of ID were obtained.

The biggest clue was a GoPro camera that was left on the board that contained pictures from Italy, Dubai and the Lake Tahoe region.

Winds were up to 40 mph at the time the man went missing which hampered the search.

An announcement on the status of the case is expected as early as Tuesday, August 17.
