Lake Tahoe's state parks on the West Shore close

LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With the Caldor Fire burning in El Dorado County with forecast erratic wind patterns, California State Parks have completely closed all state parks on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe until further notice.

These parks include Emerald Bay State Park, D.L. Bliss State Park, and Sugar Pine Point State Park.

The complete closure of parks also means the day use areas, campgrounds, historic house museum tours and visitor centers will remain closed until further notice.

The Lake Tahoe west shore state parks are not in immediate danger. By closing the parks, first responders can focus their energy on protecting the threatened areas.

This notice follows the move by the US Forest Service that closed all forest lands in the Lake Tahoe Basin and eight other forest areas in Northern California due to fire risk. Also closed in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada.
