Bob Baunhauser Excellence in Service Award to recognize South Lake Tahoe unsung hero

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe is looking for unsung heroes in the South Lake Tahoe community. There have always been great volunteers on the South Shore, but over the past two years, the community has been the recipient of thousands of hours of selfless work by volunteers

Kiwanian Bob Baunhauser epitomized the type of person the club is now seeking to thank through public recognition.

Over the past year, the community has produced many volunteers who gave service, without being asked or reimbursed, to people who really needed it. They didn't do it because it was their job to win any awards or recognition, but just because they felt that it was the right thing to do. They acted with their hearts. It may have been a professional like a police officer or firefighter who went above and beyond the call of duty or a private citizen who assisted someone who needed help with a doctor's appointment or just the store.

In other words, a good samaritan who saw a fellow citizen with a need and stepped up to help.

The Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe wants to find as many of those people as they can and recognize them for their service. The goal is to select up to ten of the most outstanding and introduce them at an awards function to be held on Sept. 28 at the LTCC Duke Theater.

The volunteer(s) that the committee finds the most outstanding will receive a cash award. If you know of someone you feel deserves this recognition, please visit https://kiwaniscluboflaketahoe.org/ and download the
rules and an application. Deadline for submission is Mon 9/11.
