Wildland fire reported off of West Way near Emerald Bay Road in South Lake Tahoe

Fire engines with water supplies are needed to fight the fire, according to reports. Backup calls for additional fire engines from Tahoe Douglas have been called. The fire is reportedly along county property.
Off duty firefighters from South Lake Tahoe have been called to the scene for staffing. Fallen Leaf firefighters have been called to back up other engines.
South Lake Tahoe police have also been asked to respond to control a crowd that has gathered around the area between the bike path and the marsh. People are apparently getting in the way of fire crews getting into the scene.
Meanwhile outside the area, rescue units respondied at 6:30 p.m. to Highway 50 west of Strawberry for a vehicle rollover accident. A vehicle has reportedly gone over the side of the road.
UPDATE 7:30PM: Firefighters and engines are being released from the West Way fire incident according to dispatch. Firefighters have been able to get a handle on the fire, said to be about a half acre that burned on U.S. Forest Service land.

South Lake Tahoe and Lake Valley have responded to a brush fire off of West Way near Highway 89 / Emerald Bay Road. A plume of smoke is visible in the area. The call came into dispatch at around 5:50 p.m. Forest Service firefighters are also on the scene and are scoping the area, said to be in a meadow.
