Senator Diane Feinstein holds "Lake Tahoe Stakeholders" luncheon

Protecting Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada is the job of many stakeholders. Its not just a local job, not just a California job, not just a Nevada job, not just a national job, and as witnessed through President Obama's visit to the Lake Tahoe Summit Wednesday, it can only be successful through partnerships of all of those entities along with agencies, local and private investment.

On Tuesday, August 29, the day before the Summit, California Senator Diane Feinstein hosted a lunch for local officials, agencies and federal counterparts, described as the "Lake Tahoe Stakeholders Luncheon".

This is an annual event that Feinstein hosts during the week of the Tahoe Summit.

Along with Feinstein, Governor Jerry Brown, Senator Barbara Boxer, Senator Harry Reid, Assembly man John Garamendi, California Secretary of Natural Resources John Laird also attended with Tahoe basin fire chiefs and County Supervisor Sue Novasel.

During lunch, there were four presentations to the stakeholders: A Bi-State Partnership Update by Laird and Dr. Droidoff, an update on wildfire/hazardous fuels by NLT Fire Chief Mike Schwartz and Jeff Marsolais of the USFS, an update on the EIP from California Tahoe Conservancy Director Patrick Wright, and a presentation about climate change and the effects on Lake Tahoe by Dr. Geoff Schladow and Dr Sudeep Chandra.

"I was honored to be invited to be a part of the event," said El Dorado County Supervisor Sue Novasel. "The conversations were very informative and underscore the importance of collaboration between all levels of government."
