Kiwanis Aktion Club to hold rummage sale in South Lake Tahoe

Event Date:
September 8, 2023 - 9:00am

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Kiwanis Aktion Club of Lake Tahoe is a community service group open to all adults living with disabilities. Aktion Club empowers members to be themselves, work together with friends, take on leadership roles, and implement plans to do things that really make a difference.

Over the past years, its members have performed many service projects including food drives, cleaning up beaches, and often visit and interact with the residents at Barton Skilled Nursing. They have raised money and made donations to Live Violence Free for Thanksgiving meals, purchased socks for the Kiwanis sock program, donated stuffed animals to first responders, and cloth dolls they made to Barton Hospital pediatric and ER units. Each year they collect crayons from elementary schools, sort them, and send them off to the Crayon Initiative where the crayons are melted down and remanufactured into new crayons and shipped to children’s hospitals across the country.

To continue supporting some of their projects and activities, the Kiwanis Aktion Club of Lake Tahoe will hold a rummage sale this Friday, Sept. 8 in the parking lot at the American Legion from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Please stop by and support their effort. The Legion is located at 2748 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe.

The Aktion Club of Lake Tahoe is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra. To learn more about Aktion Club, contact Marie Foster at 530-318-9197. With the exception of days when club members are out on a service project or field trip, Aktion Club meets at the South Lake Tahoe Library on the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. We welcome all adults living with disabilities.
