Applications being accepted for South Lake Tahoe Citizens Academy

Would you like to learn more about how the City of South Lake Tahoe operates? A free six week academy is being offered so participants can learn more about City government, learn about City projects, how the budget works and much more.
The Academy will be held on consecutive Wednesdays from 5:30-8pm beginning October 8, 2014 and running through November 12, 2014.
To apply for the Fall 2014 Citizen's Academy, interested people need to fill out an application. The program is limited to 20 participants.
This course is open to all community members and provides an exciting opportunity for residents to increase their knowledge about the workings of local government and have a desire to become more involved in the shaping and development of their community.
Academy participants will:
Learn about City government operations and services.
Participate in dialogues with City leaders, City staff and other civic-minded residents
See taxpayers’ investments at work.
Expand their knowledge and become more informed on current and proposed projects within the City.
Gain appreciation for the City’s resources and capacity to meet the needs of the community.
Learn about opportunities to become more involved and help build a sustainable community.
Receive first-hand information and have the chance to ask questions on any topic at the end of each session.
Participants are required to complete a Citizens Academy application by September 26th at 5:00pm. Applications and the course outline are online at http://www.cityofslt.us/academy. Completed applications may be dropped off or mailed to the City Offices located at 1901 Airport Road, sent via fax @ 530-542-6093 or e-mail to tfranklin@cityofslt.us
