Community Disaster Resource Center back up and running for Caldor Fire - seeking donations and finding those in need

The Community Disaster Resource Center (CDRC) is once again in use as the community comes back together after evacuation from the Caldor Fire.

A large percentage of residents work several jobs to stay local because they call this community family and the glorious landscape home. Many locals fall into the low-income, un-insured and under-insured. They are suffering more now than ever, needing help in times of crisis. They need to replace the food in the frigid/freezer lost from evacuation; the added expenses of living somewhere else for over a week; replacing severely smoke damaged items in homes and apartments due to the Caldor fire.

CDRC is reaching out to those who can help locals rebuild their lives, as well as those who are in need of assistance in the community.

Tahoe needs your help now to build back a better community for years to come. Please consider donating to the Community Disaster Resource Center (CDRC). They helped rebuild the community after the Angora Fire in 2007 through housing assistance, clothes, food, resources that were needed for jobs and their final round of funding helped with landscaping the devastated neighborhood. They were able to give out over $1 million to the over 600 affected residents in 2007.

Board members of the CDRC are Dick Schwarte, Pamm Bettencourt (President), Jerry Bindel (Treasurer), Buzz Bera, Debbie Brown, and Carrie Scarvie.
