Rain and thunder return to Lake Tahoe; Drier by the end of week

A low pressure system is off the California coast through Tuesday night, bringing with it chances for showers and thunderstorms starting Monday afternoon. Tuesday through Wednesday will bring more widespread thunderstorm coverage. Drier weather returns by Friday as a front moves through the region. Above average temperatures through Monday will cool to near or slightly below average by late week according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Monday - Scattered showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Monday Night - Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Tuesday - Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 76. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Tuesday Night - Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11pm. Low around 45. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Wednesday - A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 72.
Wednesday Night - A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then a slight chance of showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 43. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Thursday - A slight chance of showers before 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 69.
Thursday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 40.
Friday - Sunny, with a high near 69.
Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 38.
Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 73.
Saturday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 39.
Sunday - Sunny, with a high near 74.
