Rain and thunder return to Lake Tahoe; Drier by the end of week

A low pressure system is off the California coast through Tuesday night, bringing with it chances for showers and thunderstorms starting Monday afternoon. Tuesday through Wednesday will bring more widespread thunderstorm coverage. Drier weather returns by Friday as a front moves through the region. Above average temperatures through Monday will cool to near or slightly below average by late week according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Tuesday - Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 76. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Tuesday Night - Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11pm. Low around 45. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Wednesday - A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 72.
