Mocktails added to the mix at Cocktails for a Cause

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Revelers will have double the number of drinks to choose from at the eighth annual Cocktails for a Cause fundraiser on Wednesday, October 4. This is because each mixologist will be crafting both a mocktail and a cocktail.

“Cocktails for a Cause is a lively event that helps support health and wellness programs in our community,” said Jenny Taylor, the event coordinator. “This year, we are offering non-alcoholic options to encourage our community members who choose not to drink to join in on the fun and support an important cause.”

Cocktails for a Cause is a kick-off to the Festival of Trees & Lights, a multi-day event in November and December. Both fundraisers are put on by the Barton Foundation and will support the 2017 cause: helping fund mental and behavioral health services at Barton Health.

At Cocktails for a Cause, cocktail and mocktail enthusiasts can sample a variety of libations made by local mixologists. The mixologists, who include bartenders from local establishments, come up with their own unique concoctions. Any flavor, ingredient, or garnish is permitted and all cocktails feature Tahoe Blue Vodka.

The winning signature mocktail and cocktail will be served at the Barton Foundation’s Gala in December. Two panels of local celebrity judges determine the overall winners and attendees vote for Most Congenial Bartender. Last year’s signature cocktail winner was Gary Gamprie from LewMarNel’s Steaks & Spirits for Krista’s Cause. Jacob Craig of Cold Water Brewery received the most tips and was recognized as Most Congenial Bartender.
