Fire damages South Lake Tahoe home during dangerous red flag conditions

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Had it not been for the quick response by first responders, a fire at a South Lake Tahoe home Wednesday could have been much worse due to the dry conditions and high winds.

Lake Valley Fire Protections District (LVFPD) crews responded to a structure fire off of Lodgepole Trail. Upon arrival crews found the home in flames and additional resources were called to the scene to prevent further spread of fire to neighboring homes and vegetation.

"The cause of the fire is under investigation but appears to be accidental," said Kileigh Labrado of LVFPD.

Labrado said no one was injured and crews were able to keep the fire contained to the structure of origin.

Due to the red flag conditions additional resources were staffed in the Tahoe Basin and utilized to prevent the fire from spreading. South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue, CalFire, Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, California Highway Patrol, U.S. Forest Service, CalTahoe JPA, Ed Cook’s Tree Service and local utility companies all responded.
