Freaker's Ball at MontBleu canceled for 2020

The long-running tradition of the Freaker's Ball is taking a year. The 42nd annual event will be waiting one more year but organizers promise it will be better than ever. Originally scheduled to take place Saturday, October 31, MontBleu found itself, like so many venues, unable to host the annual event due to Covid-19 and social distancing guidelines in effect statewide.

"We look forward to hosting the largest Halloween bash in Lake Tahoe every year and now look forward to the extended time to plan the best one yet in 2021. At this time, our main focus remains on the health and safety of our team members and guests so we can Stay Safe to Stay Open," said MontBleu General Manager Tim Tretton.

The annual event has been Lake Tahoe's longest running and largest Halloween bash in town, appealing to both locals and tourists. Starting in 1978, the Freaker's Ball began inside what was the Tahoe Chinese Palace next to Raley's at Stateline, it moved to Vagabond Motel , Edgewood Tahoe, and Turtles at Round Hill Mall, before settling in at the casinos at Caesars Tahoe and now MontBleu
