Welcome Back Tahoe, Honoring Our Heroes event postponed due to Caldor Fire activity

Out of an abundance of caution due to the latest developments of the Caldor Fire, the difficult decision has been made to postpone the Welcome Back Tahoe, Honoring Our Heroes Community Event originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 25. It was going to be held at Lake Tahoe Community College in conjunction with the Tahoe Brewfest. The Brewfest will still take place with family-friend activities including food trucks, and activities. The only entry charge is for those tasting beers.

South Lake Tahoe firefighters continue to be actively engaged on the incident. The Caldor Fire remains a very active fire and, according to the US Forest Service, the fight is not over. Despite 76 percent containment, recent dry and windy weather has increased fire activity in some areas along the fire perimeter. Currently, there are roughly 65-miles of un-contained fire line with the majority of those miles located along the eastern edge according to a news release Wednesday.

When conditions improve the City of South Lake Tahoe will provide an update as soon as the event is rescheduled.

"We look forward to gathering as a community to give back to those impacted by the Caldor Fire devastation throughout El Dorado County and to give thanks to our heroes," said the City in the release.
