Tahoe Brewfest and Lake Tahoe Community College will host a combined Brewfest and Tahoe Community Event on the Community Play Fields at LTCC On Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The City of South Lake Tahoe canceled its portion of the event due to the guests of honor, the firefighters, still working on the Caldor Fire. There was some confusion over the announcement as many thought the Brewfest was also canceled, but it is still on!
The Caldor Fire forced the Brewfest to postpone once already after a year when COVID-19 caused cancelation. Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) stepped up and offered to help the Boys & Girls Club hold the event and expand it into a community gathering.
“Our community has been through so much in the past 18 months with first the pandemic and now the Caldor Fire," said LTCC President/Superintendent Jeff DeFranco. "We are back in our homes, our children are back in school, our students are at the College, and we thought the time was right to bring the community together again and to celebrate what makes Tahoe so special."
The Tahoe Brewfest is delighted to be hosting this free community event with kid’s activities, live music from Bread and Butter and Mescalito, local merch and craft vendors, photo booth, silent disco, food trucks, and an awesome community vibe, said the Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Jude Wood.
More than 15 breweries from all over the region, including local favorites, will be providing unlimited samples to Brewfest ticket holders. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.tahoebrewfest.com (tickets are limited so early purchase is recommended).
In addition, Tahoe Brewfest has invited a number of local non-profits impacted by the Caldor Fire to attend including TAMBA (Tahoe Area Mountain Bike Association) and the Sierra at Tahoe Education Foundation.
“The Tahoe Brewfest has always celebrated the uniqueness of our mountain community,” said Nicole Marsel, the event organizer. “We are really excited to make this year extra special and to provide the community with an opportunity to reconnect and support our local businesses and non-profits.”
LTCC is the home of the Fire Academy which has trained a generation of local fire fighters, including many who served on the Caldor Fire. Although the majority of local fire, police and Forest Service personnel will be busy working on Saturday, any off-duty first responders showing a valid credential will be provided with free Tahoe Brewfest samples.
The official after party will be held at South Lake Brewing with discounts for Brewfest attendees who show their ticket or wristband.
