Caltrans Lake Tahoe highway project updates for SR28 and US50

LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Caltrans will be doing emergency work on US50 next week as well as the continuation of utility work on SR28. Motorists need to be aware of traffic-interfering work and plan accordingly.

Starting Monday, September 25 emergency work will begin to remove and replace damaged sections of U.S. 50 from Meyers to the Nevada state line. One-way traffic control and lane shifts for bi-directional travel are expected between the Truckee River Bridge and Pioneer Trail, 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

Lane shifts for bi-direction travel is also expected along US50 between Friday Avenue and Al Tahoe Boulevard, 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Crews will start work westbound and return the following week working eastbound.

Southwest Gas and its contractor, Q&D Construction, will continue work on a gas line replacement project on Highway 28 between Tahoe City and Kings Beach.

One-way traffic control is scheduled on Highway 28 between Sierra Terrace Road and Rocky Ridge Road from Sunday, September 24 at 7 p.m. until Friday, September 29 at 2 p.m. No work is scheduled on the weekend.

Bi-directional traffic control with a lane shift is scheduled on Highway 28 between the Tahoe State Recreation Area entrance and Mackinaw Road in Tahoe City from Sunday, September 24 at 7 p.m. until Friday, September 29 at 2 p.m. No work is scheduled on the weekend.

One-way traffic control is scheduled on Highway 28 between Agate Road and Granite Road in Carnelian Bay on Tuesday, September 26 and Wednesday, September 27 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Motorists could encounter delays of up to 30 minutes. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends. Schedules are subject to change due to weather, equipment or material availability or other unexpected events.
