City of South Lake Tahoe prepares for Lake 2o event with extra traffic enforcement

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) is aware of the arrival of Lake 2o car group participants beginning on Wednesday, September 27. In prioritizing the safety and security of the community, SLTPD has partnered with surrounding law enforcement agencies which include the California Highway Patrol, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, Nevada State Police-Highway Division, and the U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement branch for coordinated traffic enforcement through Sunday, October 1.

In the past, this event has negatively impacted the community with loud vehicles, traffic congestion, and gatherings of hundreds of vehicles in parking lots and residential streets. To mitigate these issues, there will be extra officers working throughout the weekend specifically for the enforcement of traffic laws including moving and equipment violations.

In addition, the City will be closing parking lots at Regan Beach, Bijou Community Park, and both parking areas at Lakeview Commons from September 27 through October 1. The City’s parking garage on Bellamy Court will also be closed due to planned construction.

The times for car events are released just a couple of hours prior to the start on the Lake2o Instagram page, but they normally spread events through South Lake Tahoe from Camp Richardson to Elk's Club to Stateline.
