Inaugural Bob Baunhauser "Excellence in Community Service" awards

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe and the South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce awarded Laure Tolstad the first Bob Baunhauser Excellence in Community Service Outstanding Volunteer Award. She was recognized for her exceptional work with the Phoenix Food Pantry and much more.

During a ceremony, other volunteers were highlighted: Sherri Acri, Bob Harms, and Ted Turner.

"We thank them all for their generous service to our community," said Kiwanian Dick Van Buskirk. "Without selfless people like these, the South Shore would not be as special as it is."

Bob Baunhauser was a Kiwanian who, during his brief lifetime, looked for ways to help people without ever being asked. During the awards program, the audience was informed of those deeds and why he is still an important factor in our community's lives today.

Members of the South Shore community were asked to nominate people they believed were exceptional citizens for the volunteer work they did. The committee selected the person they believed from the information on those forms who best demonstrated the selfless volunteer effort of Bob.
