City Council agenda: Elected pay raises, hosted rental homes, $50 million recreation center

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The City Council will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, October 6 starting at 9:00 a.m. There is a full agenda and the public can participate via eComments before the meeting, phone calls during the meeting, as well as emails.

The agenda includes discussion and possible action on the following items:

A draft ordinance to have hosted rentals at homes in South Lake Tahoe. They use the term “hosted rental” instead of shared rental to better describe the intent that this use is more akin to a home occupation where the "host" is present to manage the use while it is occurring. With the banning of vacation Home rentals coming soon, many are turning to the newer concept of shared, or hosted rentals. The ordinance will outline the rules including the fact that the homeowner must be present during the guest's stay.

TRPA and TTD staff will provide an overview of the draft Main Street Management Plan to be released for public review and comment.

The project team for the new Recreation Center seeks direction from City Council
on the project budget before getting too far into the project design, including establishing a project budget of $50 Million and capping the Measure P General Obligation Bond at $40 Million.

An ordinance that could increase the City Council Compensation from $1,042.97 to $1,147.27 per month. Per the last ordinance they were eligible in 2018 to receive a raise but it was not addressed at that time.

An increase for the monthly City Treasurer salary from $1,042.97 to $1,147.27.
