SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Parents of special needs children in South Lake Tahoe have been finding support and resources since February through a new connected network of families.
Lake Tahoe AleWorX at The Crossing at Tahoe Valley hosted a Special Needs Community Night recently, bringing parents together for what participants are calling the most successful gathering to date.
There are over 60 special needs parents in South Lake Tahoe now connected as a result of this effort. At AleWorX there were tears of gratitude and stories of struggle were shared. The burden of feeling alone was lifted.
Lake Tahoe AleWorX has been providing its Y location for the monthly meetings. For now, they meet the first Thursday of each month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the next meeting will be on November 3.
There are over 500 students in Lake Tahoe Unified School District that fall into a special needs category.
