Two new concourses and ticketing hall being added to Reno-Tahoe airport

The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) celebrated important milestones that will redefine air travel for generations to come. Airport officials were joined by U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, U.S. Congressman Mark Amodei, Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve, and other local officials to break ground on the Ticketing Hall expansion project at the airport. This is the first piece of the MoreRNO construction program, which will take place over the next several years.
From now until 2024, when you walk into the Ticketing Hall, users will see construction designed to bring passengers more space, light, technology, and art.
It will be especially important during this period to arrive at least two hours before your flight as there will only be two entrances to the Ticketing Hall (one at the north and one at the south) during construction.
“This is more than a great day for our airport, it’s a transformational time for our region,” said Adam Kramer, RTAA Board Chairman. “The gateway to Reno-Tahoe is being re-imagined and rebuilt for the next century. We are making the first and last impression on travelers better than it’s ever been
before.”
Two new concourses will not only improve the experience for passengers but also provide a better atmosphere for airlines, tenants, and employees, who are at the heart of what makes the airport so special. They will offer 28 new gates, which are critical to the future of the Reno-Tahoe area, especially given the unique geography of northern Nevada, making the airport a vital transportation hub.
“This investment in northern Nevada is not something we can do alone, and I can’t express enough the importance of the partnership with our airlines and elected officials, and the dedication of our Board and employees,” said Daren Griffin, RTAA CEO. “This shows the commitment to air service in the RenoTahoe region.”
MoreRNO will be partially funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and is exactly what the BIL was intended for. “BIL’s aim is to increase capacity and passenger access, replace aging infrastructure, improve energy efficiency and airfield safety, encourage competition and provide good paying jobs,” said Griffin. “I’m proud to say that MoreRNO is achieving all of these objectives and I want to again thank the bi-partisan delegation for their support.”
