On Sunday, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) powered down almost 60,000 homes and businesses as a safety measure due to high winds and low humidity, the recipe for fire.
In El Dorado County, 30,819 customers had their power shut down Sunday, October 14, with an additional 8,722 in Placer County, 2,797 in Calavares County, and 17,000 more in Lake, Sonoma and Napa counties.
As officials decided the fire danger subsided enough to safely power customers back up, inspections were made on power lines by helicopter, in vehicles and on foot. Power started being resorted to some areas on Monday. As of Tuesday evening, crews have restored power to all except some customers going into their third evening without power: Two customers in Amador, 1166 in Calavares, 399 in El Dorado , 34 in Lake and one in Placer County.
"Thank you for your patience as crews continue to work to restore power to all customers," said PG&E on Twitter.
