Badges for Burgers event raises $15,000 for Douglas County Sheriff’s Office

The fourth annual Burgers for Badges fundraiser to support the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office raised $15,000. The money was presented to Sheriff Coverley and will go toward the department’s operations and specialty programs.

The event held on September 11, 2021 at Minden Park was organized by RE/MAX Realty Affiliates and Sierra Pacific Mortgage.

“We had a lot of people come out and enjoy that afternoon. The support provided by the community is always overwhelming and appreciated,” said Sheriff Coverley. “Thank you to everyone who generously donated and who had a hand in making this event happen - CoCoMoes who came in to cater at the last second, The Lost Reverends for live music, Battle Born Cornhole, and members of our Search and Rescue. This was a perfect afternoon and it’s the sort of thing we enjoy getting the opportunity to do.”

Burgers for Badges was one of those events which kept everyone smiling all afternoon. The purpose behind the event is to continue fostering connection between our community and law enforcement. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Sheriff’s Mounted Posse, Search and Rescue, Citizen’s Patrol, and the K-9 Unit were some of the programs who represented the Sheriff’s Office at the event.
