Local Soroptimists seek girls in grades 8-12 as G.I.V.E. award candidates

Are you, or do you know of, a young woman in grades 8-12 who volunteers in the community or at school?

The Soroptimist International clubs of Tahoe Sierra and South Lake Tahoe recognize young women annually through their G.I.V.E. award program (Girls Into Volunteer Experience).

An award of $100 is given to winners of this award and the Soroptimists also give $100 to the organization of the winners' choice.

The award was previously named after Violet Richardson, the President of the first Soroptimist club in Alameda County in 1921. She believed in personal responsibility and the motto, “It’s what you do that counts.” Violet Richardson lived her life accordingly, as an active member in her community who was committed to creating opportunities for girls and young women.

If you think you’d make a good G.I.V.E. award candidate or know of someone who would visit https://sitahoesierra.org/violet-richardson-award/ for more information and an application. A 750-word essay is required.

The deadline for applications to be received is November 15, 2019.
