Lake Tahoe forecast: Chance of rain and snow in the week ahead

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The warm temperatures at Lake Tahoe have been great, but I suppose all good things must come to an end. Or, are they ending? Time will tell. Fall-like conditions return this week as a series of cooler storms moves through the region. Rain showers and breezy winds will continue tonight into early Monday morning. Additional chances for precipitation and gusty winds are projected to arrive mid-week.

The weekly forecast from the National Weather Service in Reno:

Monday - Sunny, with a high near 61. North wind around 5 mph.

Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 32. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 64. Calm wind, becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 35. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Wednesday - A slight chance of rain showers before 8 a.m., then a slight chance of rain and snow showers between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., and then a chance of rain showers after 11 a.m. The snow level is 7300 feet. Mostly sunny, with a high near 53. Breezy, with a southwest wind of 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. The chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.

Wednesday Night - A chance of rain showers before 8 p.m., then a chance of rain and snow showers between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., then a chance of snow showers after 11 p.m. Snow level 7100 feet lowering to 6300 feet after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 25. The chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch is possible.

Thursday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 49.

Thursday Night - A slight chance of rain and snow showers before 11 p.m., then a slight chance of snow showers. Snow level 6800 feet lowering to 6300 feet after midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low of around 22.

Friday - A slight chance of snow showers before 11 a.m., then a slight chance of rain showers. Snow level rising to 7300 feet in the afternoon. Partly sunny, with a high near 52.

Friday Night - A chance of rain and snow showers. Snow level 7400 feet lowering to 6400 feet after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 25.

Saturday - A slight chance of rain and snow showers. Snow level rises to 6700 feet in the afternoon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 53.

Saturday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low of around 20.

Sunday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 50.
