Time to turn the clocks back one hour

Daylight saving time is coming to an end for the year, with clocks being turned back one hour starting at 2:00 a.m. Sunday, November 3. For the past 237 days, most Americans have been on daylight saving time and it will be another 127 days until it returns.

The sun will set on Sunday in South Lake Tahoe at 4:57 p.m. It will keep getting dark earlier each day for a few weeks, with sunset occurring a little before 5 p.m. for a couple of weeks in December before the days start getting longer.

The sun will rise Sunday at 6:29 a.m. and will rise one minute later each day for the next several weeks.

Californians will have to continue falling back and springing forward, at least for a little while longer. When voters approved AB 7 it was supposed to be an end to the time changing and state lawmakers are expected to reexamine in 2020. The move to permanent daylight saving time would depend on federal recognition.
