Saint Joseph Community Land Trust hosts free Spaghetti Dinner

Event Date:
November 18, 2021 - 6:00pm

Join your friends and neighbors for the annual free pre-Thanksgiving Spaghetti Dinner hosted by the Saint Joseph Community Land Trust (SJCLT) on Thursday, November 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. so people have a chance to mingle with the non-profit's board members.

The dinner is being prepared by the Knights of Columbus and will be served at Grace Hall at St. Theresa Church, 1041 Lyons Avenue, South Lake Tahoe. There will also be a raffle for a turkey.

This annual dinner from SJCLT is for the community. They are giving thanks to their members and supporters for another successful year of serving South Lake Tahoe.

They were founded in 2002 in response to the rising housing costs and the negative impacts of these costs to the broad social fabric, well-being, and sustainability of communities around Lake Tahoe.

SJCLT is organized as a community land trust. The foundations of the CLT model include:

Dual ownership: CLT retains ownership of land/sells homes to income-qualified homebuyers subject to a 99-year ground lease to remove land from the speculative market

Perpetual affordability: resale restrictions in ground lease preserve affordability

Stewardship: homebuyer education & support to preserve assets for future generations

Community participation: board of directors includes CLT low and moderate-income beneficiaries and community representatives.
